Conde Nast has decided to fold Gourmet magazine after almost 70 years. It must be a sign of the times as it has lost revenue from decreased ads. It has chosen to keep Bon Appétit that came as a surprise as many speculated that it would be this magazine that would be shut down.
Even though you can get most anything on the Net these days, including all the recipes you want, articles about the trade, and blogs like mine, it was still nice to sit back and read or “look at” glossy magazines as a way to relax and without a hot laptop getting in the way. Doctor’s offices will need to find something else too for their waiting rooms!
Conde Nast will also close Cookies, one of its newest publications. Other Conde Nast publications closing are Modern Bride and Elegant Bride.
RIP Gourmet, it was nice knowing you.
