After a whole season in Vegas, Top Chef will now end the season in Napa, California. Napa is of course well known for its excellent wines and will now host one of America’s favorite cooking shows that is full of despair, anger, joy, egos, excitement, fun, great food, and should I also say tattoos — lots of tattoos!
The competition has been fierce and fun to watch and they will all come out winners. After taking us on a long epicurean journey they will all end up with very popular restaurants that we will all be beating down the doors to dine at or will have their own cooking shows.
Kevin, Bryan, Michael, and Jen all are great with different styles and all deserve to go on to bigger things after this. For me I have a bit of a bias in that I hope Jen takes it. She wears her heart on her sleeve and can tell she is a perfectionist – go girl!
Now, you cannot have any show in Napa without wine and this will be no exception. It appears that one of my favorites, Chimney Rock Winery, and their sister winery Rutherford Hill, will be guests on the show as will the owners, Tony and Bill Terlato. One will host a wine tasting for the finalists and the other will be a guest judge. They also have produced two wines, a Chardonnay and a Cabernet, called “Quickfire” after the weekly Top Chef Challenge. Personal note, my husband and I were wine club members of Chimney Rock and it is a very nice wine. You must try their Elevage which is a well blended Meritage. They are known for their Cabernets, but the Elevage is a favorite of ours. They will represent Napa well.
Check your local listings as the two-part cliffhanger begins tonight and will end next Wednesday. I already have TIVO set.
